Flooded South Carolina rivers expected to return to normal
Earlier, rivers in the Midlands of South Carolina flooded areas in and around Columbia, South Carolina after heavy rains inundated parts of North and South Carolina last week. However, water levels are expected to return to normal by Wednesday or Thursday according to the National Weather Service.

Flood waters that came from heavy rains late last week are expected to subside.
Lake Wateree crested at nearly 103 feet on Monday. Houses in low-lying areas were surrounded with water and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources closed a public boat dock because the water was flowing at such a high level that parking and boat launches were considered dangerous. Several trails near South Carolina Midland rivers were closed due to flooding.
More rain is anticipated in South Carolina today, but not enough to impact water levels significantly. A lake wind advisory is in effect for the Columbia, South Carolina area starting at 7pm this afternoon until 7am Wednesday morning.
